DKA can lead to several serious complications, including: Hypokalemia: Low potassium levels can cause muscle weakness, heart rhythm problems, and in severe cases, death.   Cerebral edema: Swelling inside the brain can lead to seizures, coma, and even death.   Pulmonary edema: Fluid accumulation in the lungs can cause difficulty breathing.   Kidney damage: Dehydration and electrolyte imbalances can damage the kidneys.   Rhabdomyolysis: Breakdown of muscle tissue can release harmful substances into the bloodstream, leading to kidney damage and other complications.   Hypoglycemia: During treatment, blood sugar levels can drop too low, causing symptoms like shakiness, sweating, and confusion.
